Puppies at Martenlake's kennel

We breed in a small scale with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. Knowing that, we try to reach that all our puppies to be x-rayed, both hips and elbows. We follow closely the health programs that are available for the breed - hips, elbows, eyes, test of Character and teeth. Since our dogs live with us inside the house, and we don't live that grand, two litters a year are very likely the most we can have.

At about four weeks we move the puppies into the kitchen and they become full members of our household. There they get to experience the normal sounds, smells and movements of a home. Sure it is a bit of bothersome to have them running round your feet at all hours, but they get a good start in life regarding to their continuos socialisation. At this time we also open our home for the curious puppy buyers. To come earlier will risk infection for the puppies and perhaps disturb the watchful mother. A stressed up mother is no good mother. At four weeks we take a down payment from the puppy buyers, a sum that is not repayed if they change their minds.

Our puppies are leaving us no earlier than at eight (8) weeks and with the Swedish Kennel Club's contract of sale, a certificate of health (signed by a vet and not older than a week), ID marked with chip in the neck or tattoo in the ear, food guidance and naturally the pedigree.
